If you haven't seen Yuuji's backstory then this will be a treat. Yet, the main route is simply a series of flashbacks with an ending that simply sets up the next game. Doesn't feel like a complete product compared to the first game.Afterstories for the heroines are a nice wrap up for the first game. The grand route bridges things to the final game but I get the feeling the last game is going to scrap and individual routes for the Heroines. The way they quickly revealed the secrets of two of the heroines to the rest of the cast and didn't bridge the afterstories to the final game supports my theory.TL:DR If you're a fan of the series and you're certain to play the 3rd game then get this. If you've been spoiled about Yuuji's past or aren't sure if you'll play the third then you might want to pass on this one.. Labyrinth of Grisaia is the second game in the series, and completing the original is most definitely a requirement before starting this one. The setup is a little different here, with the game split into essentially three sections. First comes the epilogues of all the good endings from the first game- these are quite enjoyable and give a good deal of closure to those scenarios. Next up is the main route, Cocoon of Caprice, which tells the painful story of Yuuji's youth and past in the form of flashbacks, along with reactions from characters in the present time learning the information. Finally there is a series of amusing short stories set in all different time periods and being just for fun. There are no major changes from the original game, and it's a very smooth continuation. This is a shorter entry and there are no dialogue options this time around, you simply choose your scenario from the main menu. Be warned that this ends on a cliffhanger for the final game in the trilogy, Eden of Grisaia. It may not have all the magic of the original but if you enjoyed Fruit of Grisaia, this is basically required reading. Enjoy.. great game got more story, after story, and yuuji past of course. A fantatstic follow up to the prequel and a must for fans.. this game just fine. The only real negative things I could say about this game is that at full price it's a little expensive for it's shorter duration than the previous title and that this is the family friendly version (if that even matters to you.)The story it tells continues to be thrilling and in my opinion, well written. The translation is very good too, something that not all VN's can attest to. The five short after stories (2-3 hours each depending on reading speed) for each of the Mihama academy girls are all heartwarming and fun "what if" situations, and I enjoyed them a lot.The main story in this game is the Grand route, starting with Yuuji's past and finally filling us in on what made the main character who he is and it sets up for the final game in the series, which can't come soon enough in my opinon. It goes without saying that you really need to have played the first game to enjoy this one, if you enjoyed the story in the first game then you will not regret getting this one and I fully recommend it.If the cost of the title is prohibitive I'd recommend waiting for a sale or if you're after the 18+ version, 3 months (ish) after the steam release it should be available from Denpasoft.TL;DR - I very much enjoyed this game and if you enjoyed the first game I fully recommend this one too..
